Toothbrush

A toothbrush is an instrument which is used to clean the teeth and gums. A toothbrush has a head, which is crowded heavily with bristles. The bristles are stiff hair like projections. Below the head of the toothbrush, is a handle which is used by an individual to grip and hold the toothbrush. The handle of the toothbrush is designed in such a way that it could facilitate the users in reaching the areas which can be hard to clean.

Toothpaste is usually applied to a toothbrush in order to brush the teeth. This makes the brushing process more effective and it gives more positive results. Toothbrushes are available in different types, sizes and textures.

Toothbrushes which have soft bristles should be used because hard bristles can damage the gums and even the tooth enamel. Tooth enamel is the outer hard surface of a tooth. Gums tissue, when hurt and irritated by hard bristles, can lead to numerous diseases and infections of the gums and teeth. The bristles of a toothbrush are usually made up of synthetic fibers.

There are some points which should be kept in mind when choosing the right toothbrush. These points are:

The head of the toothbrush should be relatively small because it makes the cleaning easier

Make sure that the design of the toothbrush is perfect to reach the areas of the oral cavity which can be difficult to clean. The hard to reach areas of the mouth should be accessed by the toothbrush.

Toothbrushes which have soft bristles can be more gentle on gums and teeth

The handle of the toothbrush should be checked as well, the grip of the toothbrush should be comfortable and non-slippery. Toothbrushes which have non-slippery handles, which can be easily used even when wet, should be bought.

Toothbrushes should be replaced every two or three months. This is extremely important to maintain proper hygiene of the oral cavity. New toothbrushes have a higher potential to clean the teeth and gums by removing the plaque. Moreover, toothbrushes which have been used for many days get clustered with bacteria.
