Dental Health Education Program to Primary and Secondary Schools

Oral Health Network Ltd was funded by a dental professional who saw a gap in the market for professional led activities to support teachers in their delivery of science & other area of the national curriculum. Our company vision - to improve oral health and overall health of all age social groups with the excellence of delivery of Dental Health Education Program to Primary and Secondary Schools in United Kingdom.

We offer a cohesive series of activities taking into account the progression of your children but we able to adapt this to meet your schools current priorities. There is the opportunity to use our visit as a spring board & explore these topics in more detail.  We would be happy to help in any way we can.

Primary Schools

Key Stage 1 & 2

 

The Oral Health Network are proud to offer you the opportunity to have a dental professional come into your school to teach your children in certain topics:

·         Primary teeth and Permanent teeth eruption

·         Visits to dental professionals

·         Risk of developing caries

·         Good dental health benefits

·         Good dental health care techniques

·         Good nutrition and healthy eating habits

·         The risk factors and prevention

 

This activity promises to be engaging & interactive for the children as we use a variety of resources including pictures, videos, brushing charts and we will be using the quiz techniques.

 

Part of the curriculum of Key Stage 1 , we will touch the topic about “Animals including Humans”;

- that animals, including humans, move, feed, grow, use their senses and reproduce to relate life processes to animals and plants found in the local environment

- that humans and other animals need food and water to stay alive

- that the life processes common to humans and other animals include nutrition, movement, growth and reproduction

- that the life processes common to plants include growth, nutrition and reproduction

 

Part of the curriculum of Key Stage 2, we will touch the topics from “fitness and health education” , “personal, social and health education” and “science”:

- personal hygiene - very important part in our daily life

- what makes a healthy lifestyle, including the benefits of exercise and healthy eating

- about how the body changes as they approach puberty

- that micro-organisms are living organisms that are often too small to be seen and can be harmful

 

 

 

 

Secondary School

Key Stage 3 & 4

·         Permanent teeth importance to keep for life

·         How regular visits to dental professionals can improve dental health and overall health

·         Risk of developing caries due to lack of personal hygiene

·         Good dental health benefits to overall health

·         Good dental health care techniques

·         Good nutrition and healthy eating habits

·         The periodontal disease risk factors and prevention

·         The damaging effect of any harmful addictions and eating disorders (smoking, drugs, anorexia, bulimia).

·         Oral Cancer risk factors and prevention

 

Part of the curriculum of Key Stage 3 & 4 , we will touch the topics from:

“sexual education” and “personal wellbeing education”

- that personal appearance and hygiene takes a big role in young people life and can accompanied  to have self-confidence, to improve relationships with opposite gender and will lead to great success in the future

- how to avoid oral cancer or diagnose it early stage

- how sexual transmitted disease can take a big role in oral cancer (HPV virus)

Courses fo Pre Schools & Nurseries 

The Oral Health Network are proud to offer you the opportunity to have a dental professional come into your school to teach your children about healthy eating & how to care for their teeth as part of Physical Development in Early Years Foundation Stage.

This activity promises to be engaging & interactive for the children as we use a variety of resources including pictures to show the teeth, brushing charts to encourage children to brush their teeth more regularly after our visit & the chance to get hands on & messy to illustrate what happens to food on our teeth when our teeth are clean & when they’re not..  Our aim is to teach the children, through the Tooth Fairy why it is important to eat a variety of different foods, brush their teeth twice a day, how to use a good toothbrush & what can happen if they don’t look after themselves.  We will introduce why it is important to have a variety of healthy foods.
